with the essex,windsor frequencys programed in the bearcat ct8 trunked mode,base ,spaceing,and offset programed as well,the talkgroups i put in that corrispond with the essex windsor are not active....... out of trunk,the frequencys will respond with control cannel annoyance........is something wrong with the scanner,or the programmer.....help!!!! fyi as a paramedic here in windsor ,cacc recently went on line with there patch to hospitals,tac 1 for hotel dieu.tac 2 for met hospital,tac 3 for leamington,talk groups are listed in rr bell fleetnet. cacc went online Jan 27/05

It sounds like a problem with the programmer...

If the scanner is stopping on the control channels it sounds like it isnt set to trunking yet. Follow the steps again.

Does this radio come with software? Even the Uniden software they gave me with my 296 is ok, you can set it up there to Motorola VHF High.


Make sure the offsets are correct and try it again.

Probably the programmer.

Sounds like you are in ID Search mode and what you call "control cannel annoyance" are probably the OPP/MNR/MTO digital talkgroups. Does a talkgroup id show up when it stops?

Try putting the scanner into ID Scan mode and see what happens. I believe you should see the scanner stop briefly on the control channel and then switch to any active talkgroups. If you don't see if stopping briefly, then manually move to the frequency that's marked as the control channel and make sure you can hear it.

Yep,should be working if programmed/setup properly.I used the tables posted here,and getting ambulance calls just fine.I have an analog receiver,and getting digital breakthrough,of course.I live in central Windsor.I have the Windsor Fleetnet in one bank,and Essex Fleetnet in another.Currently can't get Essex strong enough to lock on the control channel.Have to put my discone back up for Essex.

I have a BCT8 in my truck (compliments my Pro96) and it works just fine on Fleetnet. Definitely sounds like a programming issue of some sort. Maybe go to www.butel.nl and grab the ARC8 demo. That should give you a better idea if it is indeed programmed properly or not.

I also have a BCT-8 in my truck and it tracks the Fleetnet system fine, I program mine from the keypad since there are only 5 banks and no alpha tags. You drive for a living Chris? You have reffered to your vehicle as a truck many times.

Not so much drive for a living, but just drive a lot. I'm a service tech so I tend to be on the road quite a bit going from call to call. I have the BCT-8 mounted in the truck full time, and I hang the Pro-96 in a cell phone holder (ain't leaving that baby in the vehicle overnight!!)

I also bring my 246 with me most places now too... Makes frequency snooping a lot more fun!
