BDC996xt New in digital scanning what is the best software regardless price for this receiver?

I spent most of my life in scanner word but now I am a bit lost in this digital world I would appreciate help in choosing the best software for trunking(I know xt can"t decode ap25 phase 2) . thanks.Forgot to mention living in quebec canada may influence software choice.

I thought the best software for that radio was free.

Called FREESCAN, it can be used on about any Uniden radio with dynamic memory, such as the 996/396 radios, most of which are now discontinued. Only the 325p2 and 996o2 remain in production of this era. I have several 996xt radios and use FREESCAN for all of them as well as at least one of every other dynamic memory radio they ever sold.

While there are a few programs you can buy, I tried them, and went back to FREESCAN

I must respectfully disagree. Proscan is the way to go!

BCD396XT: - Talk Groups

Since the 396 has a limit of 20 groups with a trunking system I have to limit what groups I want to enter. Question: When scanning a trunking system in scan mode does the scanner scan all talk groups or does it detect which TG is active? I have got around the limit by entering the sites in...

Sadly FreeScan is now abandon-ware. It's a shame - it had a lot of potential going for it...
