A ?, If I may please..
I am looking to get back in the police scanner world. Not at all up to date with new technology.
I want to purchase a new scanner, Probably bear cat, other brands considered,, that will receive all the frequencies in my area, (EVEN IF They ARE NOT PUBLICLY PUBLISHED.) I have not really decided on anything as of yet. All I want is a preprogrammed, or usb programmed scaller that will receive analog & digital Freqs. I do understand that encrypted freqs are off limits and have no interest in them. Not the most expensive but not the cheapest. Preferably a base unit....Thanks...Jim

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Emergency ops in your county look primarily analog conventional. So I'm assuming by your statement in red above you'd be looking to track businesses, schools, hospitals, etc? This would drive up the price tag quite a bit from analog only since you'd need a scanner to cover & trunk track DMR/MotoTRBO & NXDN,. What's your budget? Expect to spend a minimum of $400+ for a scanner with all the "bells and whistles". The Uniden offerings are the only scanners that properly trunk track MotoTRBO & NXDN. However a software defined radio paired with DSDPlus (or SDRTrunk sans NXDN) can also do this for a fraction of the price. Only drawback is they are dependant on a computer and software to run

Hughes County

The Hughes County Sheriff's Office has two repeaters (north and south) using different input PL tones
151.0775WQPY277RM146.2 PLHughes Co SheriffSheriff DispatchLaw Dispatch
so if you just want your county, just about any scanner will work.
but if you want to hear a little more, give me a minute.
McIntosh county SO uses DMR
Seminole county SO uses DMR
Pontotoc has a talkgroup on OKWIN P25 phase 2
OKWIN is the state system
so you might want a phase 2 capable radio.

Not sure what Simulcast really is. :) I will see if I can learn more as I get more involved....Thanks for you help
If you do have Simulcast towers that you want to monitor you'll have to go with the SDS series of scanners.
