Bearcat 245XLT Scanner

Just purchased this scanner and wondering what you experts think of it.
I have tried to trunk my local city but am having problems.. I can get it programed but not receive the agencies i want ot listen too.
any help
I think the BPD and BFD are digital.. Would that be why I cant here them?.

To even begin to answer your question, we need to know what city/state you're in. :?:

yeah what city and state are you in?

And if it's DIGITAL then yes, you're not going to hear it with a BC-245XLT

you would of needed to have bought a Uniden BC-296d or a BC-250d with the apco25 card

or a PRO 96. Those are the only hand held scanners available that will pickup digital, and only MOTOROLA Digital. If the agency uses EDACS Provoice digital, well then you can likely book a flight on the Space Shuttle before ever seeing a scanner that'll do that!!!!

BTW, this seems funny, but I live in Biloxi MS and here my BPD and BFD are UNSCANABLE!!! Thanks to M/A-COM EDACS and their freaking PROVOICE nazis! :evil:

Luckily I am safely ensconced in Motorola Country here. Both major trunked systems are Moto Type II, and my county just signed with them to build a new system. Luckily they are trying to keep costs down so I doubt they will be encrypted.

Well I also have a Motorola Type II Smartzone ASTRO system for the next county over, ironicly its also where I use to live, where my parents still live, and where I use to be a VOL/FF at. So I'm quite active in scanning them. I have them on my online scanner linked below. I put the analog talkgroups of that edacs system on there too. All of the fire departments and city agencies have analog meanwhile all of the police and sheriff's department is provoice.
