Apologies for question on antique unit. Have BC 760xlt which has a decreasing speaker volume "issue". Max. Vol is becoming more difficult to hear (as if volume is NOT turned up when it is actually). Speaker seems fine. Had it happen to another unit and shop tech fixed it. He no longer works there and I don't know what he did to correct the problem...some diode or other "gigildy-pin gushundo shaft manipulation" I suspect. Need an experienced fix with cookbook instrxns and precautions if possible. Great unit! Served well...just needs a little mtnce.
Great forum!
Thanks in advance.

The audio chip is type TDA1905. Two capacitors are used for bootstrap and audio coupling functions. Both should be replaced. The bootstrap capacitor is 220uF but the chip manufacturer lists the allowable range as 10uF to 100uF. The recommended replacement is 47uF 25V. The audio coupling cap is either 47uF (older units) or 100uF (newer units). Replace it with 100uF 25V or if you want a bit more low end response, use 220uF 25V.
