Bearcat BC-210 Squelch Problem

have a Bearcat BC-210 scanner and it seems like it always has an open squelch. I try to adjust it but across the whole range of the control, it does not silence the sanner and thus I cannot scan. It receives signals OK, I tested it on our local weather frequency as well as the police and ambulance channels. I used my VOM to test the squelch potentiometer and it seems to work, goes from 0 to 50,000 ohms. Any ideas on what the cause is and the fix?

I realize your message was 4 years back, but I found that I am working the same issue. Did you ever get it working?
