Just curious if anyone knows if this scanner will have any features that allows you to monitor SAFD, SAPD and/or BCSO.

SA's main system is an EDACS ProVoice system. Digital traffic on these systems is not monitorable by any scanner. Since the digital encoder specs are proprietary and not available for license, we don't expect this situation to change. Ever. (Unless the mfr makes a policy change, which is not expected.)

If that particular scanner can pick up an EDACS system, which if I remember correctly that it can.

You will be able to monitor SAPD, SAFD, & BCSO traffic on this system if they are operating in Analog mode, and have ESK turned off.

ESK has been turned off for quite some time now, and all of SAFD & SAPD radio traffic is in Digital. There are a few BCSO channels that are Analog, but for the most part they operate in Digital also.

There have been sporadic reports of certain dispatch consoles operating in the Analog mode for one reason or another, so it is always worth monitoring anyway, because you just never know........

Unfortuantely, my Pro-95's do not do a good job tracking the city system at all. So if you buy one of these give us an updated report as to how it works. I need to upgrade my old scanning junk anyway, and might be able to negotiate with the missus for the FY2006 budget and get one or two new scanners 8)

There still is plenty to listen to out in the city and county, and I would be especially intrested in knowing how the toning feature works out, especially on BCFA's (county fire) system.
