If you haven't yet, one day you will break your belt clip. It is happenning so frequently that the national RS supply house is back-ordered until June 22 as of this date. The plastic they use on this scanner is really cheap!!

When you do (not 'if' but 'when'), the part number you will need when ordering from your local RS store is 11274966 and of this date, 6-9-05, they cost $2.79 plus $2.50 shipping.

Yep I broke mine too...
Why not post this in the "Radio Shack Scanner" forum?

Don't be surprised if the belt clips are still out of stock when June 22 comes around. When I ordered mine, I was told it was out of stock for 2 weeks. I finally got it 7 weeks later. You would think that they would order more to have on hand, especially when you consider that this is the same clip that is listed in 22 different Radio Shack scanner parts lists, but welcome to modern "BIG BUSINESS". The new trend is for companies to keep smaller quantities of items on the storage shelves because these items equal "idle cash". As for the belt clips, they probably wait until they have 200 orders for them, then order 250 from the manufacturer.

When I moved into my house I needed 8 sensors for my burglar alarm system. I had to go to 3 different Radio Shack stores to get the 8 sensors. There were only 3 on hand at each of the stores. I asked why they didn't have more on hand and was told at 2 of the stores that they are limited to how much inventory they can have in their store. Not too much we can do as consumers when companies start running their businesses like this.

Very sad, but very true :( .

I had an old pro-92 laying around that I broke when I took it apart. I ended up taking off the 92's belt clip, which is the same size for the 96. It looks like the new 396t has a swivel belt clip. Lets hope that that holds up better than the RS ones!!!

I hope it's not a plastic (cheapo) swivel clip, but knowing Uniden, it will probably be. Before I get bashed by Uniden fans, I am really looking forward to the 396, and I hope I hit the lottery so I can afford one  .
