An article in the Dem-Gaz today says Benton County will move to AWIN the "fourth week of September." Also says Washington County is working on their transition plan, with new towers to be built in Hazel Valley, Winslow, Morrow and Lincoln.

Im skeptical. It was suppose to be up and going last year but Motorola messed up one of the towers sites (they weren’t suppose to ever build at the location they did) cost the company millions. Since they violated the contract with the state they had to pay to relocate the tower site, that’s not including the legal fines they had to pay for building a tower illegally.
This was a huge blow for Benton county especially because the previous radio system hasn’t been maintained since there’s no reason to throw more money away on it. The radios are worse now then ever and it’s a huge office safety issue that needs to be addressed now rather then later.

I heard some AWIN traffic this week on an ADEM talkgroup. They were testing out AWIN's coverage in known RF deadspots for Benton County.

I heard some AWIN traffic this week on an ADEM talkgroup. They were testing out AWIN's coverage in known RF deadspots for Benton County.

The cutover date is suppose to be sometime in the next three weeks. I’ve heard different deadlines but Washington county is a long ways out.
