I noticed that the list of Bergen County towns using the Bergen County system was taken down. For example, Dispatch 6 is Wyckoff. I looked up Morris County, and the towns are listed. I don’t know if someone in Bergen County complained. Just asking. Thanks

Detailed info like that belongs in the wiki, not the database, which is where it is now. Slowly but surely those notes will be cleaned up and moved to the wiki. Perhaps Morris will be next. Database submissions containing that type of info will no longer be accepted, as any member is free to edit the wiki themselves.

Seems like a good thing to have in the Wiki, but why not have it in both places?

From a user experience perspective, having to switch between the database and the wiki adds unnecessary friction. The database is often the first place users look for information, and detailed notes provide valuable context without requiring extra steps. Moving this information exclusively to the wiki could frustrate users and create inefficiencies.

Really?? It’s an extra click or two.

Because it often creates a mess of the database pages. Unfortunately over the years the policies of putting those sorts of notes into the wiki were very loosely enforced, however recently the policies have been updated and the dbadmins were reminded to enforce it. As with everything else around here, some won't be happy with those policies, but "it is what it is" as they like to say.

So, with the new year upon us, it's time to start tidying up and better enforcing policies.

It makes the database kinda clunky though.

If you didn't know anything and you wanted to find Wyckoff PD, you'd go to Bergen County's page. Then you'd see they're on the Bergen County P25 system so you'd click there. Those just list the numbered PD talkgroups. It doesn't say check the wiki there, so a newbie would be confused. I don't know how long i was on this site before i even realized there *was* a wiki tbh.

One is for the county itself, the other is for the trunked system. There are direct links to the relevant wiki articles on every database page.

I agree.

It seems that the "database" has become a "toy" for those "in charge" to play with as they see fit....then not tell anyone about it. Then blame you for not finding it. The "database" has become a one-source for information...if you can find it.

And those who find it difficult to believe that no one can, in fact, find the info they need, fail to realize that there's a life away from their radios and many don't have the time nor the inclination to go looking for what they need every waking hour.

I would also thank "ScanMan98" for bringing that information to the forefront!

Sorry I started an issue or so, but I thought that info should be all on one page for users to find quickly and easily as possible. Morris County info is still listed in the database, not wiki. Anyway, I don’t want to start another problem. I just thought I mention about Morris County list of towns using their system. Take care!!

I looked at Bergen County P25 Trunked and didn’t see the list of towns and what Dispatch. I got it and went to wiki. I think information should be on same page. I went to Morris County P25 and that information was still up. I don’t know.

The “Miscellaneous Text” block for a system entry shall only be used for specific high-level information that must be in the database but fits nowhere else. Information such as system user agencies, site locations, operational policies/procedures and so forth shall be added to the Wiki collaboration page associated with the system. System status announcements shall be placed in the “Dated News” section.

Ok. I understand. Could be confusing for a newbie going to a P25 System Like Bergen County NJ , and not seeing on the same page what town each Dispatch talk group is designated to. I believe Morris County NJ still has the list showing of what town is using what. Like Mountain Lakes is on Dispatch 8. Not in the WIKI yet. Bergen County is in the wiki, not for newbies to easily see. Maybe Morris County has not been done yet or Somebody does not like Bergen County.

I am sorry to have started all this, I was wondering what happened to the list of all the towns on the Bergen County P25 system and what Dispatch they use. Apparently moved it to clean up the database and moved to WIKI. Now I know. The question I asked was why the Morris County P25 system list of towns and Dispatch numbers, like 8 is Boonton, is still in the database. I guess it has not been moved yet. Sorry for all this confusion. I have confused myself.
