It only seems active in the Eastern Panhandle after big storms and even then there's not much chatter. Usually, the communications are about removing charge from a line for repair, then the crew advising the line can be charged again. Base makes the announcement they're energizing the line again, stay clear and that's where it ends. They might be using MDT's for the rest of the necessary communication and trouble ticket updates.

It's the same as Andy says in Hampshire: only active after a storms / outages, and even then just minimal chatter--although important, I guess, if you're working on a line that's about to be re-energized. Also, at least in this area, the talkgroups are all from all over the place.. I only monitor the Augusta tower, but almost never hear Augusta line crews--usually it's Fort Ashby shop and Petersburg line crews. It's also good to know where they are when they're actively looking for an outage.
