Berkeley Heights FD made some alterations today. The General Alarm tone remains the same, but the system has been reconfigured to now automatically trigger the townwide sirens as in the old days. Some specific call tones (i.e. Officers) were reportedly updated.

I heard all that back and forth, but left me wondering why two tone still does not come over UHF. Must still be paging on lowband. Still wondering also why such a difference in signal strength PD/FD.

I was carefully looking at Site 7 during testing and did find 4277 w UID 2000152 active.
My guess was it was not related.

Upgraded hardware to support the switch to PD and FD being dispatched by Union County RCC. They were having issues hearing them allegedly from Westfield.

Interesting, I am not surprised (not hearing them)

The .825 has never had a robust signal and a ton multipath and a marginal receiver to boot. There is the Reservation East ridge and the terrain from Lawrence Ave to Jerusalem Rd that blocks LOS to 2400. Using TX RX with a mobile is not really the gold standard. This is also a huge exploit.

Oh and Malvern LI, co-channel (??10W FB??) and FM capture effect when the band is open. The PD never had to deal with that because they are blocked being in the Valley. Not so with a 2400 remote base. Long Island comes in good with some tropo. I wonder if they are using a corner reflector to keep signals off the back?

I hear the remote base at 2400 on the input at the same signal level as the .825 repeater! Always work to be done.
