That's par for the course for digital, depending on what type of scanner you have. My PD went to P25 digital and at times, the audio can be distorted, but you can at least understand what they're saying.

Hi guys,

I expected the change over was imminent when I heard radio repair changing an antenna on the municipal building and another at "the worm, uh, WOBM" (the tech's words) during the ice storm. The word "nuts" came to mind, both meanings. Programming the "three thousand units" put the ice(ing) on the cake, or maybe Rte. 9, I'm undecided.

The P25 repeaters come in many times stronger than the old analog and the audio is crystal clear if not just a bit hollow as it tends to sound as compared to analog. If it's distorted just tweak the decoder settings. There are three sets, one for each band, VHF, UHF and 800MHz.

Edit and afterthought;
Rusty, it's Nazi Jersey, please don't insult the Germans. We'd be calling it New Mexico but the name was already taken.
