After listening further, I figured out this is what I have been hearing lately:

Berkshire County Fire (154.310) was testing a "simulcast" system today for south county.

The target date for the switchover to full simulcast on 470 was today. There was lots of testing of tones and towers etc. Not sure if it was all completed or not.
