Best frequencies to listen to

WWV at 25.0 MHz can give you a hint about low band being active. I've scanned the remote broadcast pickup channels in the 26 MHz range for signs of life. 26.11 and 26.13 seem to be the most active, at least from what I can pick up. The 33 MHz fire frequencies are also a good indicator. Search from 33.44 to 33.98 and see what you hear.

Also, don't overlook the FM broadcast band (88-108 MHz). If you have a scanner (or a decent radio that will cover the band), along with a simple outdoor antenna... Under the right conditions, you can copy stations from hundreds of miles away. (Google FM DXing)

A few places i check 25 mhz WWV, and NOAA weather stations and i check automated weather stations at large airports.most have them low power google to find ones near you. All are VHF.Angelo
