The learning curve on the 436/536 is steep. I came to it from the 346/396/996xt and I spent my first two weeks wanting to smash my 436hp with a hammer ... now I love it.

Check your email. If you need to be walked through it drop me an email back

thank you for the email ,I downloaded the files, now all I have to do is figure out how to get them on the Butel software.

You are a standup guy for helping me out.
how do you listen to so many scanners at once, must be interesting. Thanks again.

I spent many years as a news photog, and quite a few of those working the overnights in NYC. Radios in my car were purpose specific
2- FDNY, one scanned the boros, 1 stayed on citywide
2 - NYPD, one scanned boro precincts, 1 stayed on SOD
1 - Nassau County PD
1 - Nassau County FireCom
1 - FDNY/NYPD TAC channels
1 - TV Media (when they still used radios)
1 - Westchester County Police & Fire
1 - Suffolk County Police & Fire
1 - Northern New Jersey Police & Fire

They were all nearly set up identically so I could mix-&-match radios as needed when certain news stories broke.

Now ... in my car I have a 396xt/996xt combo, one for PD, one for Fire, and local federal. The 436hp scans regional and national federal. The 346xt scans the statewide networks. With that I have a VHF Saber III, VHF Astro Saber II, UHF (450-520) Astro Saber II, 800 Astro Saber III for specific monitoring.

I am listening for specific things. In my area we have an Army Base, where a DHS-CBP helo often operates out of, a nuclear power facility, a USCG base, the worlds largest nuclear sub base, a facility that makes more nuclear subs than anywhere else in the world, a National Guard helo base ... as well as bureaus for ICE, HSI, USMS, FBI, ATF, DEA, USCG (aside from the base), DoD Police ... so I get an interesting cross section of things to monitor for work within 15 miles of my desk at home.

Sounds like you have a very interesting job,I still don't know how you can concentrate on one thing at a time with so many scanners going all at once, even if they are freq. specific.

Guys, you are going off topic. Someone asked where to buy and preprogram a BCD536HP.

I wouldn't worry about preprogramming. All you have to do is enter your zip code. Just about anyone can do that.

What Voyager said :)

Whatever programing is pre-done may, can, and / or will be crap.

You need to learn how to DIY - which is simple. Start with the zipcode option and go from there. Even if you let them rip you off and "pre-program" you need to know what to do when it's not correct and when it changes.

Buy where ever you like Amazon has the easiest return and for awhile was the cheapest.

YMMV

I have a BCD436HP and you CAN add your own frequencies in your favorites list through the sentinel software. Also if you're a member of radioreference.com you can have them added to the entire database by going to the submit info area and an administrator will look at your submission, double check it and add it if it's accurate and relevant.

If you have the sentinel software you can make your own favorites list. If you don't have the sentinel software you can get it for free from this website.

I would be glad to help you out and make you a favorites list but it would be faster and easier if you made your own. You could do that today but if I made you one and put it on a sd card that could take a while for you to get it.
