Welcome to the RR forums. Highway Patrol statewide operates on TACN. Scanner recommendation depends on whether you'll be monitoring a simulcast group of sites or not (please reply back with specific location). If simulcast, you can't go wrong with the Uniden SDS100 or SDS200 to mitigate potential simulcast distortion issues you'd face using anything else. Also bare in mind that all talkgroups ID'ed as mode "TE" are fully encrypted and cannot be monitored by any scanner (or receiver not intended to operate on the system). Only mode "T" talkgroups are "in the clear"
