Gosh, this might be due to our recent code changes... I don't think I can get to this till the morning, but I think I know what the problem is. bear with me and I'll update first thing in the morning.

BTW, just so you know, I think the problem is that we've tightened down premium subscriptions for feed providers.. their feeds have to be online now to receive the subscription.

Well, you have to be a premium subscriber to access the Web service, and the Web service delivers those subscription and feed details to ScannerCast, so, there you have it. I'll get a fix out first thing in the morning.

In the mean time, keep going with (or start to use) Oddcast while we fix this issue. Thanks!!

Had the same issue with the auto-config not working after the code changes. I quickly realized it was related to the way the site now handles premium subscriptions for feed providers, which are obviously now only active when the feed itself is active. The workaround was to disable the auto-config feature and start the feed the old fashioned way, using the server information. This should already be filled in correctly for those who have already run their feed through ScannerCast. For the rest, the information is easily found on your feed owner page. It's really just an inconvenience more than an issue preventing ScannerCast from working properly.

Scannercast is Windows software, it won't work on Linux without Wine or some other emulator.

Well personally I to use Linux at work and at home. Now the squad that I'm with has a dell that has windows xp on it that is what i am using right now till i get our server back up and running then my broadcast is going back on it. And yes it is a ubuntu 8.04 server OS and i was using wine on it to use scannercast v.10 on it. we will be getting 1 more server up for all of our files and that one will be separate from this server. and i will post my configuration up here when i get it back up ( life keeps me pretty busy)

So... you're saying that ScannerCast works properly on Ubuntu (Hardy Heron, LTS even) under Wine?

Will wonders never cease?

(Note that I don't actually support ScannerCast under VMWare, ESX Server, Hyper-V, Virtual PC, Wine or Parallels. But if it works, I'd be pleased to know.)

Hey Peter,
Just a quick update: it has been 3 days, 11 hours and so far (knock on wood), I have not seen the corrupted audio issue (or if it did, it cleared itself up). I changed the public safety feed to one of those cheap-o USB cards that Mr. Blanton had talked about in his 8 feed appliance thread. It seems to work pretty well. Since it only has a mic in, I had to disable the AGC and play with the levels a bit to get a clean audio signal but so far so good. It does seem like it has a slight background hum that I didn't notice with the SoundBlaster Audigy but that could be coincidence.

I have some antenna work to do over the weekend and if things are still running cleanly at that time, I may go ahead and put in a request for a couple feeds over here at RR.com. I know it would be nice to actually capture the issue but maybe changing sounds cards has cleared it up. It should be noted that I never saw this with the railroad feed which ran on the onboard sound (SoundMax, I think).

Thanks again for your work and help, Peter. If anything worth noting comes up, I will let you know and if you need me to do anything, just LMK! :)

Thanks for the update, John. I appreciate it.

I got a handful of those 99 cent USB sound cards as well. Just as you said, I'm hearing some background hum (which isn't great, but isn't terrible)... but overall, a damn good value for a buck, you know??

Any way to keep the stream synced? When streaming with winamp, get much past an hour of streaming, the label get so far out of sync that that part is useless. I see about 5-8 seconds delayed label for who is currently speaking. Currently set at 128kb buffer size.
If i restart stream, it's good for a while then starts to drop off again. Otherwise great program. I am running the update you made a few weeks ago.

@m01dmat: Wow... weird. I've never seen this. One of the main FEATURES of ScannerCast is that it's supposed to do an EXCELLENT job of audio/tag sync. I'm not sure what you mean by "set at 128Kb buffer size"... do you mean "128Kbps" speed? If so, slow that down BIG time, like to 32K or less. There's no point at all running higher than 32Kbps.

I have the winamp buffered some, might try to decrease that size and see. My feed I have set at 32 kbps

Thanks for the great app. Keep inventing more ways for me to get more out of my toys.

AH, cool. Very strange that your tags should be falling behind your audio, though. AND with Winamp, which is usually VERY good about keeping in sync.

Is your computer ultra-busy doing other stuff? CPU-time constrained, perhaps?? If your machine is really busy, that would certianly explain what you're seeing.

Yes PeterGV It does I know that your fine peace of code does and I would like your permission to port it over to ubuntu if you would permit me to do so(I just want to pass some time). I only use the LTS versions of the server OS because of the 5-YEAR support thing that they offer I used 6.06 lts before my switch over to 8.04.. All my desktops at home are ubuntu 6.06(upgraded to 8.04), 8.10, 9.04 and 9.10 my servers (I have 4) are 8.04(3) and 9.04(1) My media center is mythbuntu 8.04 (3 frontends) and 8.04 (1 prim backend) and (4 slave back ends) I also have 3 ubuntu 8.04 servers that are for my zoneminder security system(it has 16 cams on it rite now)

And YES before you type it or say it I am a ubuntu fan boy (after my last CRASH encounter with windows xp/vista I lost 7 years worth of very important data, files and programs that i bought and paid for and never to get back)

your scannercast is a nice peace of code indeed... I would like to put in it code for 246T i have got a program right now that not only controls it but records the audio coming over it and the tags to..
