Better antenna option

My last resort is to try a Unication G5, I hear they do well for distance. Not ready to take that plunge just yet though.

Well just tested the new 830B and no luck. Works great to pick up local P25 system but no signal on the distant one.

I believe I need to get a yagi outside up high to get the distant system. Fortunately they seem to be price reasonably so worth a try.

Have you tried a flat panel tv antenna, on the 2nd floor, with a cable to the scanner?

No I have not. Do TV antennas pick up 800mhz well?

UHF TV antennas do. Public safety 800 MHz was part of the TV allocation.
