I would do a little more exploring before going "public" with something like this. While you MAY have been ripped off, you might consider that his package enroute to you was lost or diverted in the mail.

I will NOT send anything to Canada anymore because of prior problems with merchandise getting lost. Customs can sometimes be a pain, too, on packages sent from the U.S. to Canada. Unknown to you, your radio might be sitting in some customs office waiting for fees to be paid...I have run into that, too.

Sometimes, everything goes fine, but at other times it can be a nightmare. A few years ago, my former employer had two packages to sent to Manitoba disappear within the same month. Each was valued at over $2,500. Canadian officials were of no help. The packages were sent via REGISTERED mail from Kentucky. They were later tracked to Canadian Postal Officials and Canadian Customs by the U.S. Post Office. At that point, it became a "dead-end" street. Insurance limits to Canada for Registered Mail (unless recently changed) were very limited, so we took a rather large "hit" and decided not to mail anything of value to Canada after that.

E-mail does not always work. If you have not already done this, I would try to directly contact the party in Pennsylvania via (certified) mail or phone to see if anything can be determined at this point. It has been less than a month and perhaps he has been on vacation or has been ill... I would wait just a bit longer before releasing the bulldogs...

Just my opinion on this... I do hope it all works out for you.

Tom...check out the "scammed" thread. It explains it all. Shawn is justified in his going public!!

I could see going public but why get his place of empoyment involved in something not associated with his job. You should of just let it at the local coppers level. LOW!!!

I think that Shawn is very mad at this point and I would probably be also. The best thing is to let the Local Police do their job and they should come to some resolution.

Hope everything turns out good and keep us posted on what happens.

Shawn

If the local police will not help you, call the FBI. Since the transaction happen through the mail, this is a federal crime. Just a though but I had a situation and the FBI did get involved in it because it happen through the mail.

Keep us posted. Not all PA members are like Ken.

Mail fraud would most likely be handled by the U.S. Postals Inspectors Office, not the FBI. Check with your local postmaster
