a while back I heard some talk of Bexar County Fire Alarm going from CSQ to a ctcss or dcs coding to alleviate the cross talk from Hays county etc. Has this gone into effect or is it going to go into effect and if so when? Any help would be appreciated.

ALL depts. will be required to TX on 156.7. Any 203.5 or CSQ will not be able to communicate with BCFA once 156.7 is added to the RX of BCFA.

VFD Rolllout on 800 begins

Select County Fire Companies in Bexar County began receiving 800 MHZ M/A-Com Jaguar 700Pi's monday afternoon almost 3 years after being notified that a grant had funded their acquisition. A 'drop-dead' memorandum will be sent out this week advising all companies that Bexar County Fire Alarm will be requiring users of the VHF system to utilize CTCSS (PL) code of 156.7 naming a date certain deadline. The PL requirement will prevent the new 800 MHZ radios in the field from receiving the constant chatter VHF of CSQ received on 154.250, in particular North Hays County, Macgreggor and Pharr Fire/Rescue operations, all of which have plagued and hampered Fire Alarm Dispatchers for years.

The long anticipated rollout of the Jaguar radios, which were funded by a 2003 homeland security grant, endured several significant delays. The county took delivery of the equipment in late 2004, but wouldn't distribute them until it received payment from at first FEMA, then the Texas Department of Homeland security.
