Big Boy in Fort Wayne/Knox, Indiana

I'm going to be in Ft. Wayne,Indiana for a convention on July 16 when the Big Boy is there. I understand the public viewing is in Knox, Indiana but I was wondering what are the chances of me catching it on the move from Ft Wayne to Knox? Are there any local train buffs on here that can give me a few tips? I'm bringing my BCD325P2 with me and more that likely just search the railroad band.

I don't have firsthand experience in that area, but there was quite a crowd in Argos, Indiana for the eastbound trip.
@AK9R was in Hibbard, Indiana for the eastbound trip and may be able to provide some insight.

No idea what's used in Indy, but here in Illinois the UP made room for them and were coordinating on ch.62 here.

The eastbound trip across Indiana was a bit of a zoo. I expect the westbound trip will be the same. Because of that, I would avoid the stop in Knox.

They'll be on the former NKP Chicago District west of Fort Wayne. Mostly little towns, trees, and 2-lane roads. The roads will get clogged. Claypool, Tippecanoe, and Argos might be good spots if you get there early.

While on the NS Chicago District, the train used AAR 092 161.490 MHz. It's CTC, so not much chatter. 4014 will set off hot box detectors.

Not familiar with the area but if its as small as Northeast, PA it going to be overwhelming. We stopped at a small crossing to the west of town and there were at least 50 people there, skipped the station stop and went to another crossing on the east side before the NY border and there had to be at least 100 people there. Went back to the station after some lunch and talked to one of the guys in the museum and he said they had close to 4,000 people on museum ground and another 1500 -2000 across the tracks for the station stop which was only 10 mins long.

I've watched some of the videos from PA and I think railfanning would be challenging there.

The part of northern IN that 4014 will run through is flat, the rail line is mostly straight with only a few curves, and the roads go mostly straight. The rail line runs at a slight angle so there are plenty of road crossings with north-south roads and east-west roads.
