RR.com shows Biloxi as a Pro-voice-Analog Edacs with three data channels, our Edacs here in Will Co IL is standard also but has one data channel, how would a person program your Edacs in a PRO96, different banks for each data channel, Thank You and GOOD LUCK to all those folks in the effected areas.......

I don't know about the PRO-96, but on the Biloxi Site, not all of the control channels 'control' at once. Only one at a time.
The LCNs noted as control channels are LCNs that have at some point been noticed as controlling the site.
I use a BC250D, and when the current Control Channel controlling the site stops data transmissions the new control channel that pops up data activity is recognized on my scanner and takes position in the memory as Control Channel.
I am guessing then that you should not need separate banks made in regard to each data channel in your scanner.
But I hope a Pro-96 user can confirm this info for you though.
Will you be monitoring the system sometime in the future?

I have a EMS ham friend from my area working in the Biloxi area and he was trying to find out how to program it in his scanner while there but i think after a week of work he is headed back, Thanks for your fast reply....Good Luck
I am visiting Biloxi soon. The database indicates that all police comms are in pro-voice digital which means they can not be monitored with a scanner. Is this still the case following Katrina? If so, are there any other interesting comms that can be monitored (besides those listed in the database)?

i am currently in Starkville, MS attending Miss. State University. I have no contacts to the coast with scanners who could inform me.
May want to see if the RR Wiki has any streaming scanner audio for Harrison Co.
I will check the Wiki as well.
May want to monitor 155.6400 MHz when in the biloxi area. That is Biloxi PDs old primary frequency. I believe their FCC license for it is still active. :wink:
They may use it or common state or tac freqs if their TRS is down for some reason.

The system covers Gulfport, Biloxi, Long Beach and, maybe Ocean Springs,,, and??. I'm not an expert by any means,, on this system. I only spent a bit over a week doing disaster relief comms in the area. There is a lot on traffic on the 800mhz I-Call-Itac frequencies, which is to be expected with all the mutual aid LE coming in. I wasn't able to monitor the system efficiently. Lot's of FD traffic, and "contract" EMS stuff. I could only hear sporadic LE comms. I know I didn't have the -2096 programmed properly for the 2 site system. But, if not for the Mississippi forum, I would not have heard a thing! My buddie's -246 did better on the system than My radio. No biggie though, We had bigger things to worry about! The marine comms were most excellant to monitor too. Thanks to the people there who helped Us, You are all heroes in My book.

ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT on the Harrison County TRS is PROVOICE. Included with this is AMR and the City of Biloxi Fire Department.
All other County services, fire departments, emergency management are ANALOG. There are "some" law enforcement analog talkgroups but they are hardly ever used. The majority of what you'll hear will be City and Rural Fire Departments on the TRS.
You might want to also program in Jackson County TRS which is Motorola both analog and digital talkgroup users on there.
Biloxi Site will only broadcast public safety talkgroups, the Gulfport Site will broadcast EVERYONE. If you're in Biloxi use the Biloxi tower because it'll be the strongest signal as it's designed for the coastal areas. The Gulfport Site covers the north part of the county.
155.6400 mhz (Old Biloxi PD repeater) is still not in use. The first thing I did when I returned was scan all of the VHF frequencies that use to be used down here. NOTHING. They're still maintaining their comms on the EDACS provoice.
The Harrison County TRS is being used by, City of D'Ibverville, Biloxi, Gulfport, Longbeach, and Pass Christian, as well as the Sheriff's office.
FYI Ocean Springs is CONVENTIONAL 155.5800 mHz. and they're in Jackson County.
Other interesting Comms. RED CROSS is using 146.4200 and 147.4200 mHz also Hancock County EOC is using 146.7000 mHz and Harrison County is on 146.7300 mHz. I'm still trying to find other stuff new to the area. Someone told me Motorola installed an APCO25 800mhz TRS in Hancock County but I've not heard any new control channels, it could be a very local site though. Florida state police installed a portable motorola II 800 mhz TRS in Gautier and they're using that. Just scan the 866 mhz band and if you find a mot cc program it and go to control-channel scanning. You'll hear them. Good coverage in Gautier and Pascagoula. Can't pick it up in Biloxi though. the antennas are only up about 50 feet.

Nexus, Thanks for the info. Now I understand why the 246 heard more (different) comms than the -2096. The 246 was programmed for Gulfport and the -2096 for the Biloxi tower. Our last few days in the area, We were assigned to the Biloxi High School which was a D-Mat hospital/clinic of sorts.

The only thing you won't hear on the Biloxi Tower is the public works talkgroups. Which works out great because if you want to put the radio in ID SEARCH you can do that on the biloxi tower and not have to listen to the rednecks talk about stupid crap. You'll only hear public safety talkgroups come up on it. The Biloxi and Gulfport tower broadcasts the exact same traffic at the same time. So you really should of been hearing pretty much the same stuff on both at the same time minus the public works/city crews.

You were at the high school on Friday? They told Us on Tuesday the they were closing the shelter. D-Mat pulled out on Monday evening, leaving only a "skeleton" med. presence. There was still a large military and LE contingent on site though. It was hard to imagine the school being under water, whoever did the decon did a great job. I have reservations about returning. It was kinda tough physically and mentally. But, if requested, I will go back.

that school was underwater? I never noticed anything... That's wild. I wasn't there in a shelter, I was doing some OPS for the red cross. The red cross still has a presence there in the way of giving out financial aid.
