I'm trying to load an older firmware version on my SDS200,
some how the file is now associated with note pad and won't load.
How do I stop the association? Thanks
Using Windows 7

If the file has not been edited (including the name) it should work since a Check-Sum is used to assure a error free download. However, if it is the wrong ".bin file" it will not load because the header of the "bin file" first checks for the ID of the radio and will not load unless that ID matches the ID of the "bin file".

I would double check that you have the correct "bin file", maybe you accidently got a SDS100 bin file?

Don't try to Open the bin file. Right click and hold and drag it to your SDS200s SD cards Firmware folder. Then tell it to Copy the file there.
Once there, use the Safe to Remove option and then unplug the cable to the SDS200 or power it off with the power button. The firmware bin file should flash the firmware as long as the bin file is an authentic firmware file for the SDS200 that has not been edited as N0UDG pointed out.
File associations do not come into play here at all.
