Birdies

My scanner keeps locking up when it scans across frequences programmed within the 30 MHZ to 50 MHZ range because of birdies within this frequency range. Does anyone experience this type of problem and does anyone have any idea what causes this. I noticed that it happens at certain times of the day or evening. There are times of the day when there are no birdie lockups and will scan fine and there are times of the day when I have to lock out almost every frequency in that range to scan because it is so bad. Is there anything that I can do to stop these annoying lockups from happening when scanning other than locking the frequencies out?

The problem you are having would not be caused by a birdie. Birdies will be a problem at all times.

Birdies are signals that are generated from inside a receiver.
What you describe sounds to me like it is probably interference from
other devices.

The only way to tell is start turning off electronic devices in your house
until you find which one is causing the problem.
