I've been looking for the past two days. So far I haven't found one. The best I could do was radioshack in Centerpoint had the Pro96 and its base companion in stock. I guess the only way is to buy it online. I just got interested in scanners and I'm very discouraged by the complexity of programming. I could use some good advise or I may opt to return my scanner and spend my time on something else.

So do you have a 96 or what?

If it's too hard for you to program it's probably best to return it..

If you bought the 96 at RS, did you not have them program it for you?

If you didn't maybe you should go back with your receipt and ask them to do it for you. Not sure if they would, but I don't see why not.
That's THE best way to get started. Eventually you will learn/get used to doing it.
When I first got my Pro95, I thought it was a PITA to program also, but as I got used to it, it's not that bad anymore, actually I think it's quite simple. Maybe even easier than programming my Pro83.

Also you may want to pickup a programming cable, and download Win96 for your PC.
That way you can program it with your computer. Win96 is not free though.

Not sure what other options there are for the Pro96 as far as software goes.

I agree with Bala... pick up the cable and the software. It can not be easier. You just type in the channel name and the frequency and upload it to your scanner. I know how to program my 96 but still use the software because it's so fast.
