I dont know why it would, but I know from others posts it wont last without it.I still get excellant reception with mine......Hoser

I have one on mine, I'm hearing 110 miles away! I don't think it would..

the ones Ive seen at walmart are a solid peice of fiberglass??

Yep, So is mine, Run it about half way down each of the LONG elements in the middle and then electrical tape it tight all the way down all you can get to..Don't worry about the outside elements..Just the long one in the middle...It will work... LOL
