Since there is no BK forum im hoping its ok to post this here. If not Mods please move to the appropriate location.
I have had a KNG2-P800 for i think going on 4-5 years now. At the end of my 2 year warranty the unit went back for poor battery life and slight over heating. It was sent back with replacement board and diagnosed with problem in the RF deck. Which is ironic as its used as a scanner and 99.9% of its life has been RX.
So i was also given a new battery as the original battery went from 2000mAh to 600mAh. Thats according to the on screen display when i check the battery stats.
Well now we are coming up on 2 years and the replacement battery is now at half its capacity. The aftermarket i got a year and half ago is at 1/4 its capacity. All are the Li Ion batteries, KAA0100.
The reason i am posting this is to ask if anybody has a good source for replacement batteries.
But i also wanted to ask, is anybody else having this same issue. TO me its an issue because i have Motorola batteries (APX, XTS) that are double the age and are showing way less capacity loss. I treat the APX and KNG the same, both off charger in morning, may or may not get a bump charge late afternoon (before im off work) then on charger at bed time. Yet the 3 batteries for the BK have gone down hill so fast while that has never happened with any Motorola battery. Yes apples to oranges comparison but i like the KNG unit however the battery issue is starting to make me use the radio less. In fact my SDS100 is getting more use now than my KNG is. Perhaps this is an example of how well the Impres technology is to keep batteries lasting longer. Heck i finally replaced a 5 year old Li Ion apx battery that had 999 estimated charges (from apx battery display option) as it was finally starting to loose capacity.
So to those few owners of the KNG radios, are you having a similar issue with your batteries? Are they lasting you longer or shorter in terms of staying close to new rated capacity after 1, 2 or 3 years?
