• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just received my BKR 9000 radio and I am very impressed with it. All programmed up and works flawlessly. Is there a way to mute the keypad tones? No option in the software to add a mute button. Still scratchin' my head....

Thank you for your help...

Good morning Smokie, so under Config MENUs (top of the RES, Radio Menu Configuration, there is a KeyPad Mute that you must add to the Menu Items. See how that works. I've seen it, just never used it.

Thanks for asking this, it reminded me to add it to my configuration. (Still waiting on the radio to arrive however, how long did it take for you?)

Thank you for the answers. I looked and it's not in the menu items, Conventional or trucked. Listed as something else? I'm running software ver Version 5.8.28.

It took approx 180 days for me to receive the radio..

Give me a call 805-714-8875 but first update your software to 5.8.38

So to finish up on a question Smokie493 had, in Software 5.8.28 this option is not there. But in 5.8.38 it is in there.

Did some testing with this, running into an issue where if the keypad tones are muted, then you cannot change zones.

You can click "ZONE", scroll to what you want, click "ENT", but it won't change. The moment you click "MUTE" again, it will take effect and you will jump to the selected zone.

This bug was corrected in the 5.10.37 firmware, which doesn’t look like it was publicly released (I received direct from support after highlighting same issue). There is finally a new public release on their site (5.10.43) that you should try if you haven’t already, should fix the issue.

I just tested, and that resolves it! Thank you!
