What problem are you having? I regularly listen to the Waterloo RACOM site. PM me if you want.

I'm glad you posted this, I have a question about BlackHawk county too. I can scan them fine, but do they have a VHF link frequency? I can't listen to them down here in Tama County even with my outside Discone, but it seems like most agencies that are on RACOM also have a VHF link channel, but I don't see one listed on the database for BlackHawk.
Don't mean to hijack your thread but I figured it was an appropriate place.

Make sure you're set to EDACS. Make sure that you do NOT put the first channel on channel zero in your bank, skip that and follow the numbered frequecies on the database to the T and you should be good.

VHF link

The fire departments are paged on a VHF frequency and also on the RACOM system.
154.370 for rural fire depts
154.250 for waterloo fire/ems
154.145 for cedar falls fire/ems

Ben, have you tried the Vinton site? You look like you are right in the middle of the Vinton, Waterloo, Marshalltown, and Malcom sites.

You might also need to look into an 800 MHZ only antenna with better coax. I noticed that I needed that here in order to hear the waterloo site better.

I guess I was referring to law enforcement. I just tried the Vinton site with no luck. the only site I can reliably pick up near me is Malcom. I even have a hard time with Marshalltown. Any extra good coax with a BNC on the scanner end and probably an N connector for the yagi side? That's my biggest obstacle is finding coax already put together since I have no ability to install anything other than a PL-259 connector. laying around you want to sell?

Nothing on the law side is linked that I know of, only Fire paging.

I don't have anything extra laying around right now, maybe someone else will read this and have something.
