Black hawk down in LA

Just heard on the scanner that a black hawk has crashed in Louisiana. They don't know why it crashed at this time. They have already sent a few helicopters and search and rescue has been sent.

The coordinates are: 2958.115 N and 9006.311 W

The helicopters that arrived on the scene are saying all three people on it are safe.

Scramble of med-evac and search and rescue is going to continue. Civilians may have been on board from what I can hear.

Now they are reporting that the helicopter that crashed was a civilian helicopter and they were picked up by a blackhawk. There were two civilians on there and they both have zero injuries.

Hopefully there won't be many more accidents... Unfortunately it almost seems inevitable with the amounts of helo traffic in the area though.

Have you discovered any type of system as to how they are controlling the area? I assume it's been turned over to military controller in the air, such as E-3, or possibly E-2 for the smaller areas. Have they broken it into sections, or is there some kind of system for assigned altitudes and directions of flight?

Umm, Dave, where have you been?

ICE/CBP and the US Navy have been tag teaming the airspace. CBP has been running two P-3s out of Corpus to provide comms support for both TFR's. Navy and CG assets pickup the slack where possible.

This is a new crash. It happened about 15 seconds before I did the post. Note though, it was NOT a blackhawk like the national guard originally thought it was.
