Black telescoping antenna

I have a black telescoping antenna and I happened to think about conductivity. Don't telescoping antennas conduct through contact with the portion below the extension point? How can this one that looks like each section has a black enamel coating work?

Yes but a manufacturer and model would help...

<edit> I suspect the paint is conductive too...

tear one apart, and you will find they make contact under the little lip that keeps them from pulling apart.
there is a brass fitting that makes contact with the next section.

The black coating is probably a black chrome or other metallic coating that should be conductive. The contact points for most telescoping whips are little copper fingers that make contact on the inside of each section and the inside may not have the same coating.

The top of the Diamond looks metal to me. This one is all black. I filed down a couple spots and it does show conductivity, I just didn't know how. The is no conductivity on the black outside.

Test each section's resistance against the other sections with an ohm meter/multimeter and you'll have your answer.
