I am sorry if this has been discussed. I am unaware of how to find this.

Recently a Blackhawk squadron was move here (Alabama) to Redstone Arsenal from Fort Rucker.

Is there a known frequency that would be used by the choppers?

I have used Signal Stalker II with my Pro-97, but got nothing.

Can anyone advise what frequencies I should be searching/using for military helicopters?

Thanks for any input,
Ken

The field uses these:

CTAF: 126.95
REDSTONE TOWER: 126.95 290.275
HUNTSVILLE APPROACH: 118.05(181-359) 125.6(360-180)
HUNTSVILLE DEPARTURE: 118.05(181-359) 125.6(360-180)
GCA: 124.8 229.4
IC: 125.6(360-180)
OPS: 126.2

Listen for them to call in on Ops. possibly. If you want they're AA freqs, that will be harder. When you hear them nearby on ATC, just start scanning the UHF mil band and hope you get lucky.

Is this one of the test units or a combat unit?

Link to try

Hello fellow scanner. Give the link below a try. It is for Airnav and you simply type in the airport or airbase you want information for.

I hope this helps you out

I live about 4 miles from Stead airport here in Reno. We have two helo squadrons at the airport (CH-47 Chinooks and UH-60 Blackhawks) and I have never heard them when they fly in or out. I havn't even heard them on the Stead unicom. I wish you luck because I have about given up on army helos.

Just a thought..... I don't live near anyone who's posted so far, but....

All our local guys talk to ops on VHF-lo band freqs (30-50 MHz) when they transit in and out of the facility. You may want to search in that range in addition to the milair range mention earlier.

Let us know if you find 'em!

I've heard air to air,air to ground. and convoys all in the vhf low band .If you don't have any confirmed frequencies the best thing to do is look. Don't rule out 138-144 in a.m mode. You never know
