Why are their blank channels between the frequencies I import from the radio reference internet trunked systems?

Are they necessary or do I have more free channels to fill?

Be more specific...what system are you referring to? What model scanner? What software are you using?

Sorry, I'm using WIN 96 to import trunked files into my PRO 96. When I import the files, I get a lot of blank channels between the frequencies.

You still haven't said what specific trunked system you're working with. Post a link to the system in the database so we can have a look.

Okay now I see what it's doing...it's importing the Primary and Alternate Control Channels for the four sites you're importing, and putting a "spacer" between each site.

12 - Hutchinson
13 - Wichita
14 - Mayfield
15 - Partridge

So cleaned up, it looks like this:

<blank space>
Site012 Ch02 852.4625 Primary Control Channel
Site012 Ch03 852.7250 Alternate Control Channel
Site012 Ch04 852.9750 Alternate Control Channel
<blank space>
Site013 Ch02 852.1125 Primary Control Channel
Site013 Ch03 852.4125 Alternate Control Channel
<blank space>
Site014 Ch02 852.3125 Primary Control Channel
Site014 Ch03 852.6125 Alternate Control Channel
<blank space>
Site015 Ch02 851.7375 Primary Control Channel
Site015 Ch03 852.0625 Alternate Control Channel
<blank space>

Do I need those blanks? Better still, how do I keep them from doing that?

I'm not personally familiar with Win96 or the PRO-96, so I can't say for sure. They shouldn't hurt anything, though.

It'll work fine, its almost an ole "scanner lore" that the RS-GRE's do better with a space between the frequencies in trunking. Reality I know I havent seen nare a problem without a space and seen others state the same in the past.

It is in that setup though it's also a good way to keep track of what frequencies that go with each site tower.

Thank you for the info.

It looks like have a lot of editing to do to my databases. Obviously I am really new to this. I'm working on a PRO 34 right now. Don't laugh.

What that does is force the PRO-96 to scan all programmed sites. If those spaces are not in there, the scanner will find the first control channel it finds and scan only that site, until that signal becomes unusable.

Mike, Thanks for that because I procrastinated and didn't edit any yet.
