Hi all!
Several years ago I used to be quite active on this forum. We kind of ran out of steam with the group when some people moved away, and one of our key contributors passed away. I wanted to leave a note here for posterity. As the UCA moves to a P25 system over the next few years, the information on UtahRadio.org will become more and more out of date. I made a commitment years ago that, no matter what, the information on that site would always be available as long as it was useful. Once the P25 migration / cutover is complete, there will be little use for the current content.
So, I'd like to throw that out there to the community. Does anyone have any interest in taking up the UtahRadio.org mantel and providing useful information to the broader community for the next decade? It would be nice to see the site redone to share information about how people can monitor public safety after P25 is a reality. If anyone is interested, please contact me: simpkins (dot) ryan at gmail (dot) com. I am also frequently available on DMR TG3149, and can be reached via phone at eight zero one, six zero two, eight six six one.
If no one is interested, I'll keep the current site up as long as I can manage before finally letting it die. Hope all is well with everyone, and thank you SO MUCH for keeping public safety monitoring alive. I believe you play an important role in assisting citizens as they monitor public safety activity in a safe and responsible way. Listening to a scanner far away from the action is always better than chasing flashing lights.
