Was doing some clean up and found this beauty from 1996. It’s how many of us programmed our scanners before there ever was a RadioReference!

inside I found the receipt from Lentini’s and a copy of my credit card slip, back when they use to imprint your card in the machine. I can still hear the ker-chunk sound when they did it.

Since I am in Newington I took a picture of the Newington section. I wonder how many of these listings are still current. interesting to see one of our current police dispatchers and our current fire chief were running repeaters back then.

Enjoy!

I grew up in Newington and started listening to them in 1968 on a AM/FM/VHF Hi Band radio.

All town services were on 156.00 Mhz at the time, and then they switched to 460.425 Mhz.

Lentini's was in New Britain at the time and I bought my first scanner - a Regency TMR 8 H/L - there.

At one time, I made friends with one of the police officers, and got to sit in on the dispatch desk and answer phones.

Nice town. My Sister still lives there. Thanks for the photos and recollections.

Nice find. Not sure what I did with my old books.
They were a great source of information.
I lived in Newington for 25+ years.
Going to be interesting to see what stuff goes to CLRMN and what stays on the LTR system.

I have that same edition laying around somewhere I got from Lentini's. I bought a few different ones back then. I also have some Alarm Room News booklets from at least the early 1990s.

Let us not forget Tom Kneital's fantastic guide to Federal Frequencies. "Top Secret Guide" was the name (?). "Uncle Tom " was a real pioneer, and helped publicize Low band VHF skip reception as well.

RR was already around in 1995, because when I first got the internet that year, I said "I need to find out where the state police went. So I searched on the web & found RR for the first time and was able to find out that the state police had moved to 800MHz analog. And I was thrilled that my Pro2004 did 800MHz, so I punched them right in & brought them right up again. I got my 2004 in early 1989, did half a dozen mods to in it '91, it was my main scanner till 2005 and I still use it today for ham & a few left analog.
