"Ah, Houston, we've had a problem.”

Background:
Shortly after receiving my SDS150 I tried out using BT audio in my vehicle. I do not recall at that time any issue with the audio over the vehicle’s entertainment audio system. Some time elapsed before using the SDS150 in the vehicle again. During that time there was an iOS update.

Configuration:
SDS150 to iPhone 16 Pro(U/AWARE app.)
to Toyota Prius 2017 Entertainment System(BT profile Phone & Audio Player).

Problem:
The audio data stream sounded normal for the first few minutes from the vehicle speakers. Then I noticed that the audio sounded like it was being speeded up. Like a 1.5x speed playback was enabled. Not finding any options for speed playback and by that time the audio had degraded to sound gaps in the audio stream. Beyond the first minute or two the audio will degrade into speedup & gaps and switch between the two symptoms. I keep the SDS150 volume set low so I can compare the ‘original’ audio to the delayed audio from the sound system. Making sure the sound gaps are only in the delayed audio and not from the SDS150 reception.

Work Around:
None found… I cleared all the setup/pairing without clearing the issue. I disable the BT Phone profile in the vehicle entertainment system as I thought maybe they were interfering with each other, no change.

Other Devices:
No audio issues with AirPods, iPhone speaker or Shokz headset. On a side note I use my iPhone for music and audiobooks over the entertainment system for years without issue.

Conclusion:
I’m not really sure where/when the problem originated or what needs fixing. The vehicle sound system is not going to get new BT profiles if needed. The iOS update, two since the original U/AWARE release may have broken the U/AWARE application which is v1.0.6 on my phone. I may have done my initial usability testing before the iOS 26.3 release in mid February when the audio seemed to be working without issue.

For me the SDS150 spends little time in the car. I did confirm the SDS150 phone jack plays well with the entertainment system 1/8” audio jack which for me is not really a connection method I like in a car. Maybe a small BT speaker for use in the car is in my future. Around town driving the radio’s speak is OK, but on the freeway the road noise really overpowers the radio.

No blame here… It does not work for me and I don’t know how or why. Just putting out my information and maybe others have noted the issue, but have not said anything about it.

P.S. I see a SDS150 firmware might be coming, but nothing about U/AWARE application. Maybe a fix is on the way...

I had some issues with my Chevy Infotainment system and U/Aware. If I connect the scanner to the app on my iPhone 16 Pro Max before the phone connects to the vehicle, the vehicle thinks it's in a voice call and the audio is awful. The fix for me was to connect the phone first to the vehicle and then connect the scanner to the app. I am using the latest iOS. Just thought I'd share what my fix was in case you wanted to try the order of connections.

Good input and I don't recall trying that connection order. I did find, which I didn't include specifically was like your case the vehicle thought it was an active phone call. That prompted me to disable the phone connection information as commented in my original post.

Well it seems your fix was what I needed to do. During my original setup many weeks ago I can see myself 'fumbling' thru getting all the steps completed and during that time the iPhone connected to car before the SDS150 connected to the iPhone application. Once I got familiar the timing changed or I changed the order of operations. In any case thanks for the comment as I didn't think the order of connection was important.

All working well here...
