I've heard BLM using the first three listed frqs in the last couple of months in Southern California.

167.950 is active during large fires, and I've seen it listed as a BLM channel.

Are These Freqs 166.375 166.4875 166.750 And 168.300 Mhz Used Statewide ?
And Are There Any Other Blm Frequencies Used In California Thanks Shannon

As I said in another thread, a BLM item needs to be added to the California database. I have good, up to date information on the BLM for California and Nevada. It is all a matter of my time to get it submitted.

Presently I'm working on a major project, researching the California Department of Parks and Recreation. I've already worked on it for about a week and a half. I've spent so much time submitting data for natural resource agencies that I haven't even submitted data for the Mono/Inyo County region, which I lived in for 27 years. The existing database for these counties is incomplete and inaccurate, but I haven't had time to address it.

A quick review of the frequencies mentioned results in the following comments. 168.300 is the BLM California "Scene of Action" (SOA) frequency. SOA frequencies are used for initial attack tacticals. 167.950 is a national air tactics frequency, one of 7 such frequencies given a air tactics national assignment. In California 167.950 is called "BLM Air to Ground." 166.750 is the Calif. BLM law enforcement net. I have little to no information on this net, i.e. repeater locations and tones. The 166.375 and 166.4875 are the admin and fire net frequencies for the Northern California District of the BLM. 166.375 is the net for the California Desert District. They might be developing 166.4875 for a fire net, but I'm not sure. The BLM in California has three districts and the remaining on is called the Central California District. The frequencies for this district, both admin and fire, are unknown to me at this time. They used to use 166.375 for admin and 166.4875 for fire, but they changed about 3 years ago and I'm hunting around for those frequencies.

Hopefully, I will figure out Central Calif. and be able to submit the BLM as a separate item for the CA database. I have repeater information/tones available for the Northern and CA Desert Districts. I'm not sure how soon I can make this submission.

I thought I would have no time for any of this when I learned my wife was going to be forced to retire. We discontinued cable service to save money and it is amazing how much time one gains when the TV doesn't work. I'm also applying for every job I can in this area and depending on which job I may get (or not), I may not have much time as I have now.

All UHF frequencies used by natural resource agencies, with the exception of the logistics/camp/repeater link frequencies in the NIFC cache, are repeater and remote base station links. The 415 frequencies no longer meet the requirements of the NTIA assignments for link frequency use and the down links will be in the 406-409.9875 range. The requirement just came out 1/1/08 so it is taking some time for a few locations to change. The 415.350 looks like a Forest Service assignment, the BLM used to be in the 417 range. So 415.350 could very well be the downlink for the Lassen National Forest.

By FCC definition most repeaters are "fixed" stations. The only exception is portable repeaters. Some agencies have licenses for portable repeaters, such as the command repeaters in the NIFC cache.

Having looked at a BLM site in a shared vault our club was in, I noted they were using the 415.xx frequencies as mountain top linking channels.
