"blood run"?

wats a "blood run"? like when the officer says, "yah, i'll go for the blood run". it sounds like they're going to get blood from someone that is loosing a lot of blood, but why would police be a part of this? idk wat it means, do you?

He's going to go to the blood bank and pick up some blood needed at the hospital, don't you think???????? And they send the police because they have lights and siren.

must be pretty serious when they need the police to do it. i c, thanx.

(i thought it may had something to do with a crime scene also)

Could mean that helping another officer conduct a blood test on Supected intoxicated driver...


Why dont you contact that Particular department and ask
YA never know Thay may tell you
Or ask a Local "cop"...

Yes that's exactly what it is, they're taking blood from a blood bank to a local medical facility. This can be for places that are in remote locations or they need more than what their current capacity is.

The highway patrol usually does it in some parts and they do run pretty fast while they're doing. =)

I've even heard them transporting organs for transplanting, but these days there are more Med Flights available than there used to be.

Usually an officer is just taking a vial of blood from the scene to the blood bank, so the blood can be typed (A, B O, etc) and then taken to the OR -- it speeds up the process of getting extra blood for an emergency operation.
