Blue Angels #7 at KDVT

Heard him on 118.4 (DeerValley Tower), I think they were doing media flights in anticipation of the Superbowl flyover this weekend. I heard him fly over my work the other day and again this morning and heard him get cleared for landing about 11:00. I went up there at lunch to check it out. They had just fired it up so I hung out a little bit. Heard him say "Thanks for having us, and we'll see you again on Saturday" when he got cleared for take off. Off he went, that is cool seeing an F18 head for the sky, was a first for me.

Angel

Was Northbound on I-17 about 11:00 Saturday and saw one (is that all there is?) angel circle around North Scottsdale.

I think thats all there was in that area. Normally there are 7 jets, 6 used in the shows and the 7th for meida flights and press appearances I think.

They usually use Angel 1 - 6 for the shows and Angel 7 is the Media aircraft however if they have a mechanical issue with one of the other aircraft, then they use Angel 7 to back fill. The last time I saw them, they had an 8th aircraft painted in "Angel" colors however it wasn't marked with a numerical designator.
