What time do the Blue Angels usually practice on the Friday before the airshow? I have heard them and barely seen them from the east side, in past years, after noon sometime.

Eric,

Friday after noon is how I remember their practice time also. But, I actually start monitoring with my scanner on Wednesday and Thursday. The advance team usually comes in earlier in the week. They go up in a small plane, flying over Cleveland to do an update of the land marks used for the various routines.

During that monitoring I've occasionally heard traffic regarding the Friday practice times for both the Low show (cloud cover/light rain) and the High show (clear skies).

If I catch any thing earlier in the week, I'll be sure to post it.

Eric - the last 3 times they were in town it was always on a Thursday about 2:30-3pm (3pm is usually break time here at work so it's easy to remember) and I can usually watch them doing vertical climbs from my position close to CGF.

Thanks guys - I might go down there Friday to watch them practice.

A few months ago I rounded up these Blue Angels freqs for 2014:

141.175
235.250
322.950

...and then there was an airshow in Youngstown. I didn't go, but heard the VHF and one of the UHF freqs (forget which one) up here.

You might consider adding the Burke TG's from the (Cleveland) GCRCN system.

56080 Operations
56081 Airfield Maint
56082 ARFF Operations
56083 Ops(2)?

I'm also adding 56084 Ops (3)? It's listed as Hopkins in the RR database. But, it's outside of Hopkin's TG range of 56050 - 56070 and it fits perfectly with the Burke range. Hopefully there will be some activity on it that will prove it one way or the other.

If the Burke TG's are active, they should be added to the CLE Airshow Wiki.

I thought it was the Thunderbirds at Youngstown?

I heard them during the noon hour (radio and jet engines), and briefly saw them above the treeline once.
