Anyone know how those work with regards to getting back to the OEMC?

There seems to be flat, rectangular-shaped white antennas on top of the cameras (which extend pretty high above the cameras) instead of the antennas you see in the above picture. I'm assuming they're highly directional, so might they operate in the GHz range?

I can try to take some pics but they'd probably turn the cams on me. I live on the North side so some of the cameras I can think of at the moment are:

1) By Amundsen High School @ Damen & Foster (D20?)
2) On Howard Street a little east of Ridge (D24)
3) By Foreman High School near Belmont & Laramie (they've got about 3 in this area) (D25/16)

One article touts a 160GB storage capacity so I'm guessing they'd need a pretty good bandwidth for transmission.

Edit: I'm now realizing the flat white structures that extend above the cameras are not antennas but the gun-shot detection sensors (Shown @ 1:17 in this video), however does the wireless interconnection operate over the regular data network that CAD stuff operates on?

Edit 2: They operate in the 4.9GHz Public Safety Band link:

Recently, the new SPEEDMesh 4.9 GHz routers from Wave Wireless
have been installed to enhance security and video quality. According
to Paul Zucker of RMS Technology Solutions, “With the new
SPEEDMesh 4.9GHz mesh routers, surveillance video travels virtually
unmolested on the new 4.9GHz licensed Public Safety band, free from
unlicensed WiFi interference. The immediate result is noticeably
enhanced video quality.” Previously, the unlicensed 5.8 GHz band
was used for most of the mesh, but there is enough WiFi activity in
Chicago for interference levels to occasionally degrade the video signal. The 4.9GHz band is licensed
specifically for Public Safety use in the United States, and only government-operated systems may
use it.

Guess that sums this thread up.....unless anyone has any input.

The camera's are only as good as the person(s) watching them.

This guy needs to spend more money on hiring police officers. Last estimate was just under 9,000 coppers. Not 13,500 as reported by the media.

Ah yes....a perfect response to the camera post ! DaMayors "band-aid" solution to the lack of police on the street. Don't hear too many stories of "the camera guys" catching live incidents much do ya?? lol

KSJ...Homey! Hope you are well.

The squads can utilize the PDTs in the cars to view real time from the camera perspective. Not sure what the MHZ would be on those babies but I am confident no one with an Icom R3 could use it to view. I would be very shocked if it weren't encrypted.
