Well I live at the other end of that long road called the BRPW where it is called Skyline Drive up here in Virginia. I live in Maryland and I can pick up NPS LEO's when they use their radios even tho I am about 100 to 120 airmiles from skyline drive but with my Yagi pointed that way plus im sure they might be using some type of repeaters as well plus the NPS HQ for skyline drive is in Luray VA. What I really wonder is when a park ranger or LEO travels from skyline drive to where it switches over to Blue Ridge Parkway I wonder what radio system they would end up using??? since it seems to me they have legal authority along the whole 500 miles plus of skyline drive and the BRPW. Next time i catch a NPS Ranger or LEO i will take a hard look at the frequency that they are us plus has anyone ever heard of the US Park Police here in DC Metro transmit on the skyline system or viper? That opens a whole new can of worms as well. I used to live in a town called Fletcher in Western NC not to far from Mt Pisgah and BRP.

BLRI Rangers have a SHEN zone in their radios, and I would assume that SHEN Rangers have a BLRI zone for interoperability with them.

To answer your other question.. there is no reason USPP from DC would ever need to access Viper, and if they for some reason did they would likely be given cache radios. I have on a couple occasions heard the USPP helicopter used for rescue operations within Shenandoah NP and they operated on their channels.

I believe Shenandoah NP likely provides law enforcement services to the smaller parks that don't have their own Rangers such as the Cedar Creek & Belle Grove NHP in Strasburg. Never have been able to locate any radio info for this park.
