BNC Antennas

I have heard something about BNC connectors getting worn out if you change antennas a lot. Is this true? I use a PRO-96 and I was wondering if I should get an adapter for it and switch to SMA antennas. What should I do?

i was constantly changing antennas on my pro 96 and had to replace the bnc connector i have several antennas from different scanners i've owned and finally settled on one that works well
