I have an antenna that I want to connect to 2 scanners. Would a 3 way BNC connector work with this sort of application or would a diplexer be a better choice?

Truth not the best option. Why because no Isolation between ports.
Diplexer sends signals to by frequency to different ports (VHF to port 1 UHF to port 2).
Using a Stridesberg with a amp is a better option and you lose no signal to each port.
A cable TV splitter you will lose 3db half of you signal will go to each port.

If you have two, chances are pretty good you’ll have four in no time. They just seem to multiple.
