CG 6533 looks to be doing a shoreline search.
Yes, the current is heavy, I guess we should continue this conversation on the New Jersey breaking news thread where I have the details and screenshots of the Choppers. Unless the mods want to combine the threads.. it's occurring right on the border of both States.

Any USCG small boats involved in SAR that would be on VHF LMR P25 channels

With the. water temps in 60's survival times may be in two or three hour range.

Sector Del Bay most likely ran the search patterns off in SAROPS and would have given the best probability where the persons in located.

Yes they pretty much know exactly where the body would be going given the current.. Marine rescues over the decades I worked in Trenton as a newspaper man always take a few days to a week for the body to show up. It's a chilly day today.

The last point when the subject was seen with his head above water he was thrown a life preserver which did not reach him and that was the last he was seen on the surface. He could end up in Philadelphia in a few days.

Wish I had a nickel for every dead body recovered over the years I worked in Trenton.

The tough ones are women and children swept away by floods, sometimes the bodies have been murdered first before going in the water, many suicides jumping off of bridges and even people drowned after evading the police by jumping in the river during foot pursuits only to be found dead a week or more later.

Yep thanks, there are also boats from the Coast Guard and they are using CG 121. CG 409 and CG 121 are the two main p25 conventional frequencies used here on the river along with the rest of New Jersey and PA.

Doesn't look good for this individual so.. they may be winding down now and just let nature take its course.

Thanks for the updates and info on SAROPS, very insightful. Given the location near the Delaware River and how unpredictable currents can be there, it's encouraging to know both New Jersey and Pennsylvania agencies are working together on this. I remember a similar situation last year near Burlington Island where quick coordination between local fire departments and the USCG made a huge difference in locating people quickly.

Also, for anyone following this thread who may be out on the water frequently, whether recreationally or for work, it’s a good reminder to always double-check safety gear and keep VHF radios tuned to the appropriate emergency channels. Situations like this can unfold fast.

If you're looking for more general safety resources or just practical emergency tips for around the home or workplace (especially with water-related hazards), you might want to visit here for some useful info on preparedness and response tools.

Hoping for a safe and swift resolution for the missing person and their family.

Yes apparently the person was not wearing a life preserver. Water rescues on the Delaware River are very common and Bucks County in PA, city of Trenton Fire Department and the New Jersey State Police work together every summer to handle the multiple incidents of drownings while swimming, boat collisions, suicides off any of the bridges, Foul Play where dead bodies are dumped Etc.

If anyone wants to read Levittown Now.com they had an article. Basically said what I said in the New Jersey and Pennsylvania breaking news forum.

Rarely does the Coast Guard send a chopper out of Atlantic City but New Jersey and Pennsylvania State Police helicopters and Philadelphia police helicopters often assist.

The Delaware River is the state line for New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is a major shipping lane, large cargo ships transiting the river every day. All vessels are required to monitor Channel 16 and channel 13. The lift Bridges communicate on channel 13, other bridges are large enough.

Because of the tides there is frequent flooding along the river banks of both States. New Jersey State Police Marine Division can be heard making boat stops on the weekends at a regular clip.

This individual will eventually show up but it could be anywhere.

Sad story that repeats itself too often. Farther up river, we have multiple drownings every season, the common denominator is always no life preserver aka PFD in use. Up my way the National Park Service is typically in the lead, usually a number of vol fire companies assist with dive teams and /or boats when these incidents occur.
