Bolivar County located in Cleveland, Miss., has plans to implement a countywide TRS for E-9-1-1 Operations. The pending frequencies are:

I hear that since Cleveland City is going with a 9600 baud TRS in the future, my thinking is that it will be Motorola, but will have to wait and see.

bolivar county e911

the 800 system for bolivar county 911 has yet to go on the air. it will be a motorola system. this will be used by sheriff, fire, ems, and emergency management

An update on the Bolivar County 800 system:

Yet to go on the air. The E-911 Commission is having problems buying the land where they want to put the tower. There has also been talk among the commissioners of not even going to the 800 and just upgrade the existing VHF system. I think they have spent enough money already, so they might as well follow through.

Me being an emergency responder on Bolivar County, I'd rather have 800 myself.

The land has been purchased to put the tower on, they are now getting some prices for the tower. They're moving really slow on this deal.

They are aware that the license must be active within a year. They are trying to hurry up and get it on the air. They should be getting the tower up soon.

They are being pushed by the local Motorola shop to do Type II, no digital.

As of right now niether the Bolivar or Cleveland systems are up and running,, and Meridian's is supposed to up by '05

Bolivar County 911's TRS is scheduled to go on-line March 1, 2005. All agencies will be using it. The fire departments will still page on VHF. They will be testing it in February and scheduled to be "live" in March. From what I understand, there will be two sites with a microwave link between the two.

So its NOT gonna be a wide area EDACS PV tied in with MSU? Its still planned to be a Motorola ASTRO Type II mixed mode? 2 Sites... hmm maybe they will be combining the county, and city TRS's into one big Smartzone.

There was never any talk about it being a EDACS System. We are a Motorola County. It would be kind of hard to tie it in with MSU since Bolivar County is on the very western edge of the state and MSU is on the very eastern edge of the state. I was told that the city will be using the county's system, so I'm not sure what the city of Cleveland will do with frequencies that it is liscened for, maybe turn them over to the county.

Oops thats the Lowndes/Columbus proposed Uber EDACS tie in with MSU...... Well the Boliver/Cleveland systems will finally be up.. and infor can be posted.. and that will make life somewhat easier... Now if only I could get accurate info on Meridian, Lowndes/Columbus,... Columbus AFB,.... I get up that way about twice a year or so,.. so that makes monitoring a PITA..... At least I do have one active source (student) at MSU, one (student) at UM, two in the Hattiesburg area... two in the Metro-Jackson area.... one in the Simpson County area,... two in the Gulf Coast region,.... McReb and myself in the SW MS area.... Add in you for the NW MS area,.. and I only have a few holes uncovered..... Of course its those areas that I dealy would love the most current info for LOL... Well my lunch hour is half gone.. will see if I can updte some more,.. then back to work...
