I was looking through the data base and saw a listing for the Department of Motor Vehicles under CC&PS.
The Department of Motor Vehicles has not been around since Jim Hunt's first term when he needed a
job for Phil Carlton. He had the GA create the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety and
moved NCSHP from the Department of Motor Vehicles to the new CC&PS, along with some other
agencies, so Phil would have a job until he got a judgeship.
The Department of Motor Vehicles became the Division of Motor Vehicles in the DOT.
License and Theft Section, later Theft Enforcement Section, then Enforcement Section
and now License and Theft Bureau, uses
the frequencies VHF Low Band frequencies cited in the data base as Department of Motor Vehicles under
CC&PS. There may be some confusion from when the uniformed officers
(process, weigh and MCIs) moved to NCSHP. A lotta folks think the whole section moved.
The listing should be in the Other Agencies section under DOT, Division of Motor Vehicles.
