I noticed that Boone County law enforcement and fire department talkgroups are now listed in the RR SAFE-T database. I have been monitoring Boone County's SAFE-T tower for the last couple of days and I have yet to hear the Lebanon Police, Boone County Sheriff or any fire departments communicating. Anyone heard anything from these agencies? I have heard the DNR, ISP District 14 and INDOT from this tower, though. Thanks.

The talkgroups have been assigned for Boone County. However, Safe-T is not being used in Boone County. As of right now, it is not looking good that Boone County will be on the system any time soon. You may hear traffic once in awhile, as some of the officers still have portable radios that were used during testing. Dispatch also has portables. The County has held several meetings with department heads in recent months. The major hurdle in getting the system implemented is Zionsville PD's unwillingness to compromise. The latest rumor is that they may be joining Carmel PD's system.

Just because a county or agency has talkgroups assigned to them doesn't mean they use them full-time or at all.

For example in Huntington county, there are talkgroups assigned to EMA, Fire, EMS, and LE. However EMA is the only agency that uses them full time. The others just use them occasionally as they haven't got enough radios for everyone yet. At this stage in the life of SAFE-T this is the situation in several counties.
