Anyone know if Bordentown city is on the same Trunk System as Bordentown Twp? This is a digital system correct?, so my Pro 528 is useless, or do they simulcast on a analog station.
Thanks

They're both digital only.

BTW, it's "frequencies", not "codes". "Codes" refers to codes they use when they speak.

Bordentown in Northern Burlington County

Bordentown City and Bordentown Twp Police both operate on the Burlington County TRS North. They are on Police Channel 4 (P-4). Unfortunately it is all digital. Other police departments in the area may operate on an analog frequency, but I do not believe Bordentown PD does. Unfortunately very little in Burlington Co. is analog. If you want to monitor the system, you may want to look into saving up for the Radioshack Pro-96 scanner, or the Uniden Bearcat 396t. These radios run in the area of about $500 unless they are on sale, or bought online. If you want to wait a little longer, I heard that

If you want to wait a little longer, I heard that GRE is coming out with a scanner that is a little more money, but is supposed to be even more up to date and better quality than both the RS Pro-96 and the BC 396t. Perhaps someone else can elaborate on this.
In the meantime, you can monitor most of Mercer County (except for Trenton City PD which nobody can monitor), Pemberton, Maple Shade, Moorestown, and Cinnaminson PD on conventional (not trunked) analog frequencies. You may be also able to pick up Middlesex county, and maybe even Montgomery county, PA from the Bordentown area.
Well, good luck and happy scanning !! {:>D If you are wondering what to do about purchasing a new scanner, just ask and someone will be sure to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the info, just for my info, why can't Trenton PD be monitored.

Also, the Pro 96 info states it probably will not be upgradeable if rebanding occurs. Is this something I should worry about?

Not sure about the Pro-96 rebanding, although I thought there was a way to upgrade the radio. The Trenton Police Department cannot be monitored because they use a type of digital audio called VSELP. No scanner currently on the market can decode this type of digital audio. Right now the only digital audio that can be heard on a scanner is Apco 25.

Only the Pro-96's Digital Signal Processor (DSP) firmware is upgradable, not the firmware which controls RF tuning. Hence neither the preset bandplan for 800 MHz nor the frequency ranges nor the step size can be modified. (Range and step issues are unrelated to rebanding.)

It is widely suspected, however, that there is a work-around to the rebanding issue by using the Pro-96's six custom tables (available via software only). This would override the preset 800 MHz bandplan for Motorola systems and may be enough to allow the 96 to continue to trunk all channels. I haven't yet heard of a Motorola trunked system that has been rebanded in a way that would require this, so as far as I know it is not yet confirmed that this will work. I think some trunked systems have been "rebanded" by moving channels needing reconfiguration to frequency ranges that don't, so that the system could continue using the old bandplan.

As long as you reprogram the old channels with the new frequencies, rebanding will not hurt the Pro-96's ability to tune 800 MHz conventional systems or EDACS.

Some people hope that TPD will be monitorable again when they switch to APCO P25 audio, and that this switch will be required by rebanding. I have heard that they are/were able to reband the system without switching, and I suspect that if/when they go with P25 it will be encrypted.
